Catholic Bible Studies
St. Matthew Catholic Church has many Bible studies in both English and Spanish. The goal of the Bible studies is to learn from Sacred Scripture about God, to love Him more, and grow in community with one another. Some groups meet at private homes and others meet at the parish. Below is information about a few of our Bible studies.
Truth on Mondays
The next topics will be the Letter to the Hebrews...
What is the meaning of Christ’s death on the cross? What does it have to do with us?
Of all the books of the New Testament, the Letter to the Hebrews offers a most profound and penetrating exploration of this mystery at the heart of Christian faith. It is a window opening into the event at the center of all history: the act of love in which Christ died for us.
Join us on Monday evening, January 7, at 7 p.m., in Room D of the Parish Hall. Lloyd.Maurer@live.com or 971-245- 5283
Wisdom on Wednesdays
During the months of November and December Wisdom on Wednesday will be studying the biblical verses behind the beautiful O Antiphons that are sung between December 17 and December 23. The O antiphons all begin with “O” hence their name. The antiphons comprise a list of names and attributes of Christ taken from the scriptures.
Wisdom on Wednesdays will be studying the O Antiphons for four weeks: November 14 and 28 and December 5 and 12. There is no fee for this particular class.
Wisdom on Wednesday meets Wednesdays from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. in room D of the Parish Hall [that is off the back parking lot]. If you attend daily Mass you have just enough time to grab a cup of coffee and crumpet and come join us. The door is open at 9 for socialization before class and we’d love to meet you!
