Fall Festival

St. Matthew Fall Festival 2016

Dear St. Matthew Community,

It seems only right that we celebrate this Thanksgiving Holiday with a financial report and final sharing of thoughts on the Fall Festival. How very blessed we were by perfect weather, by activities that were fun and represented the commitment of a united community, and by a dinner that brought back a much loved tradition. The Masses centered us as one community of faith. The entire campus, Parish Hall, and Gym were transformed into festive spaces that helped us to slow down and celebrate our many gifts. To see so many people involved and present was exciting and made all the hours of preparation leading up to the festival worthwhile. To paraphrase a saying, "It does take an entire community to achieve success."

When we began planning for this festival, we sent out a questionnaire. Those who responded helped all the chairs envision a Festival that was both an honoring of past traditions and a reflection and celebration of who we are now. So many people stepped forward as volunteers, donors, participants, and supporters. Children of all ages helped. Members of all ministries volunteered their time and talents, and prior to and during the Festival people of all ages shared their commitment to the St. Matthew Fall Festival. Together, the vision became a reality and we are so very grateful. Thank you.

The Fall Festival had two goals: to net $40,000 which is critical budgeted support for all Parish ministries, and to honor and bring together the entire community. Well over 540 people volunteered to help in a variety of ways, 1,200+ dinners were served, and we were able to make $50,274 with more money coming in. Our expenses were held to $14,000 due to donations of all types from members of the Parish. We are including a spread sheet from the past 10 years of Fall Festivals. This year we feel we are moving forward in a positive way. With support from all parishioners, we can continue to honor our past and celebrate our future by supporting the needs of the Parish and honoring the diverse gifts of its members.

All the chairs of the Fall Festival wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and a very blessed holiday season.

The St. Matthew International Fall Festival is an annual parish-wide event that is held in mid-October.  Included in this event is a bazaar with a wide variety of booths, international foods and barbecue, a raffle, children’s carnival, and family bingo.  This event is the parish wide community builder where St. Matthew’s diverse ministries come together to deliver a unique dinner experience. Secondarily, it generates an operation profit that contributes to the parish’s ability to meet our pastoral plan.
