Saint Vincent de Paul

It was on his 20th birthday in April of 1833 that Frederic Ozanam and six of his friends at the University of Paris began an organization that would become the worldwide Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Frederic died at the age of 40, but during his brief life he witnessed his small Conference of Charity grow and begin to spread throughout the world. Today this Society of men and women grouped into small conferences seek to find the forgotten, the suffering, and the deprived in order to bring a little of God’s love.

St. Matthew’s Conference started in 1968 and has responded to the call. A dedicated group of men and women bring furniture to the needy, food to the hungry, clothes and bedding to warm the body, hospital beds and equipment to the suffering, layettes and cribs to expectant mothers, Thanksgiving and Christmas food boxes and toys to forgotten families.

Our meetings are held the second Monday of each month and we welcome anyone interested in bringing the love of Christ to the needy and forgotten. Please call (503) 693-7528 for more information.
