FACTS—TUITION ASSISTANCE APPLICATION AVAILABLE
If you are interested in being considered for tuition assistance for the 2010-2011 school year, you must submit a FACTS application by March 15 via mail (applications available in the school office), or online by March 19 at www.factstuitionaid.com. This applies to all current and prospective families. Financial assistance is based on these applications. Don’t delay, apply today!
ATTENTION KINDERGARTEN APPLICANTS—FALL 2010
Please ensure that you submit your application for the Kindergarten Fall 2010 class. Kindergarten Round-up invitations will be mailed in February for round-up in March and only those who have applied will be eligible to participate. Don’t wait, complete an application today! St Matthew Catholic School has served local students since 1914. Our K-8 youth benefit from the excellent education provided within a Catholic learning environment. Dedicated faculty and staff are deeply committed to developing each child as a Christian role model, effective communicator, responsible citizen, and lifelong learner.
St. Matthew Catholic School is fully accredited by the Western Catholic Educational Association (WCEA) and the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools (NAAS).
Each school day begins with Morning Prayer, birthday announcements, and the Pledge of Allegiance. Weekly School Mass and Holy Days are celebrated as a school family, with active student participation. The annual All Saints Day Mass, hosted by the 1st Grade, is a beloved tradition celebrating our Saint Friends. Our 2nd Graders receive preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion. All sacraments are reverently taught and practiced, with religious standards woven throughout the curriculum in addition to regular formal classroom instruction.
St. Matthew Catholic School is proud of the scope of education, experience, and knowledge that our staff brings to the classrooms. Parents should anticipate close communication between themselves, the school, and individual teachers to foster success. Grades are trimester-based, with parent-teacher conferences held twice a year. Core academics are accompanied by important special programs, including P.E./Health, Computer Lab, Foreign Language Instruction, Music Classes, and Library classes in the 7,000+ volume library. A full-sized gymnasium enables not only P.E. instruction but provides access to CYO athletic programs for students wishing to participate. Other features of the school year include Viking Club, 6th Grade Outdoor School, 7th and 8th Grade retreats, D.A.R.E. program, “Buddy Systems” which pair older students with our younger students, daily hot breakfast and lunch, annual Christmas Program, Science Lab and Science Fair, School Band, and a very special 8th grade Graduation Mass. The academic year ends with a popular all-school picnic.
The many offerings of St. Matthew Catholic School include affordable tuition. The school is grateful for the dedication of many groups working to keep low tuition a reality. We also rely upon our School Advisory Council, a resource comprised of school parents and community members who provide important policy recommendations to the pastor and principal in the areas of planning, finance, curriculum, and development.

La Escuela de la Parroquia de San Mateo ha servido a estudiantes locales desde 1914. Nuestra juventud, desde el kinder hasta el grado 8, han sacado provecho de la excelente educación que se imparte dentro de un ambiente católico.
La facultad y el personal dedicados están profundamente empeñados en desarrollar en cada niño y niña, modelos de vida cristiana, comunicadores eficaces, ciudadanos responsables y estudiosos de por vida. La Escuela de San Mateo esta acreditada completamente por la Asociación Educativa Católica Occidental y la Asociación del Noroeste de Escuelas Acreditadas.
Cada día la escuela comienza con la oración de la mañana, información de los cumpleaños y el compromiso de lealtad. La celebración semanal de la Santa Misa y de los días de fiesta religiosos se celebran en una atmósfera familiar y con la participación activa de los estudiantes en cada Misa. La Santa Misa anual del Día de Todos Los Santos es presentada por el 1er. grado y es una querida tradición, conmemorativa de nuestros santos amigos. Nuestros alumnos de 2do. Grado se preparan para recibir los sacramentos de la Reconciliación y de la Primera Comunión. Además de la instrucción formal y regular del salón de clases, los alumnos se educan reverentemente en la recepción y en la practican de los sacramentos, de acuerdo a los estándares religiosos entretejidos en el plan de estudios.
La Escuela de la Parroquia de San Mateo esta orgullosa del nivel de educación, de la experiencia y del conocimiento que nuestro personal lleva a los salones de clase. Los padres deben anticipar entre sí una sana comunicación cercana, la escuela y cada profesor, individualmente, la fomentan para el éxito futuro de los alumnos. Los grados se basan en trimestres y las conferencias entre padres-profesoresse llevan a cabo dos veces al año. El núcleo académico es acompañado por programas especiales e importantes, incluyendo Educación Física/Salud, laboratorio de computadoras, enseñanza de idiomas Extranjeros, clases de música y las clases de biblioteca que se llevan a cabo en la misma biblioteca de la escuela; esta cuenta con 7,000+ volúmenes. El amplio gimnasio permite no solo la instrucción física, sino también el acceso a los programas atléticos de CYO para los estudiantes que desean participar. Otras características del año escolar incluyen: Viking Club; la Escuela al Aire Libre del 6to grado; el 7mo y el 8vo grado tienen retiros; el programa DARE.; el “Sistema Buddy” en el cual los estudiantes mayores forman pareja con nuestros estudiantes más jóvenes; el sistema automatizado de cafetería para el desayuno y el almuerzo caliente diario; un día de Naciones Unidas; programa anual de Navidad; el Laboratorio de Ciencia y Feria; elecciones escolares; banda de la escuela y la Misa de Graduación del 8vo grado. El año académico termina con una comida popular al estilo día de campo para toda la escuela.
