LIFE: RESPECT LIFE MONTH

This year the U.S. Bishops have chosen Every Life: Cherished, Chosen, Sent as the 2018-2019 Respect Life Program.

On October 7, Respect Life Sunday, preach on life, pray for life, and display the materials on life that the Office sent every parish priest.

We are a people of life and for life. A Catholic Culture of Life is respect; it is love, and it is always in relationship with all of God's creation.

JUSTICE: FAIR TRADE

by Eileen Sleva

October is Fair Trade Month.

"Every perspective on economic life that is human, moral, and Christian must be shaped by three questions:

-What does the economy do for people?
-What does it do to people?
-And how do people participate in it?"
(USCCB: Economic Justice for All)

PEACE: NONVIOLENCE

October 2 is the International Day of Nonviolence.

Nonviolence is a Catholic principle meant to be a way of life.

Is now an acceptable time for parishes to engage parishioners in the Catholic principle of nonviolence?

FROM THE DIRECTOR
Celebrating Children- Based on the Sunday Readings for October 7

We are one human family, and as our future, our children warrant special attention.

When children are underfed and underserved by our education systems, can we do better?

When we lose children to wars and to abortion, can we do better?

When children have lost their innocence to human trafficking and age-inappropriate media, can we do better?

Why You Want to Attend: "The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt" Leviticus 19:34.
