My family and I have been parishioners of St. Matthew since 2002. St. Matthew’s community has become the extended family we left back in Mexico. It’s the place where we’ve made new friendships, and the place that has fostered spiritual growth for our family. My family includes my husband Agustin, who works for Intel; our daughter Victoria, who started her second year at Glencoe, Carmen is in sixth grade and Agustin Jose is in first grade, both attend St. Matthew School.
Over the years I’ve attended different adult faith formation programs at the Parish and volunteered in different ministries, with children and with adults, in catechesis and as part of the Pastoral Council. I found those opportunities rewarding and intriguing. Eventually I enrolled in the Ministry Formation Program offered by the Archdiocese of Portland from which I’ve received the Basic Certificate and am close to finishing the Advanced.
Being on staff I appreciate the dedication of all my co-workers for our parishioners and am in awe of the amazing parishioners that form St. Matthew. It’s wonderful to see the many volunteers that make possible our faith formation programs, fundraising events, liturgical ceremonies, and many other activities. Our parishioners are involved and care about our community of faith.
My responsibilities as staff include assisting Molly with Religious Education and being in charge of the Sacrament Preparation program offered in Spanish.
I’m originally from Mexico, and my education background is in Law; faith formation is my passion, and I look forward to share faith and fellowship with new and old parishioners of St. Matthew. If you’re thinking about joining our community of faith, please feel welcome!
