St. Matthew Catholic School, guided by the Holy Spirit, nurtures the whole child to live, learn, and serve with the compassion of Christ. St. Matthew's is a caring, Christ-centered community focused on each student's development.
Students are challenged to use their God-given talents to fulfill their potential as they learn and grow closer to Christ daily. The academic standards of each curriculum area are followed as set forth by the Archdiocese of Portland. Students are encouraged to ask real-world questions, collaborate with their peers, and arrive at meaningful problem-solving conclusions. In addition to the regular academic curriculum, other classes include PE, Health, Music, Spanish, and Art. Students learn about the Catholic faith during daily Religion classes at each grade level, PreK through 8th grade. Prayer is integral to daily life at St. Matthew Catholic School. Each day begins and ends with worship as well as throughout the day. Students also attend a weekly Mass hosted by a different grade level each week. Students are also encouraged to serve each other, their classmates, the school, the parish, and the local community. Each year, the school participates in gathering food for the parish's Thanksgiving baskets, which are distributed to the local community in need.
The faculty and staff of St. Matthew Catholic School are caring individuals who continue their education through workshops, in-services, and faith-formation days. Our teachers model life-long learning while instilling a thirst for knowledge in their students. All staff are invested in the success of each student according to their talents, interests, needs, and gifts.
St. Matthew Catholic School works in partnership with parents to develop each student's ongoing spiritual and academic growth. Parents are actively involved, sharing their time and talent to ensure a quality program.
